Douglas Charles Abbott (Minister of Finance and Receiver General)

Liberal

Mr. ABBOTT:

Yes. I have given further consideration to the matter which was raised by my hon. friend the other day and after discussing it with the officials I have come to the conclusion that since we are to adjourn presumably until April 5 it would be embarrassing if we did not have the usual vote of interim supply for the commencement of the new fiscal year on April 1. Therefore it will be my intention, on Tuesday perhaps, to bring in the usual interim supply bill. I shall perhaps discuss with the leaders, first, the question of how much should be asked for, and so on, and endeavour to arrange to have it put through expeditiously, if that meets with the wishes of the house.
