That is fine. I say that
there were other occasions on which we should have indicated1 our determination to stand by Britain's side. In the dark days of 1940 when France fell and Britain stood alone, the Prime Minister might have appealed to the Canadian people and have said that since the last outpost of civilization' was at stake we should stand at Britain's side.
