Hon. C. D. HOWE (Minister of Munitions and Supply):

There have been no negotiations between Wartime Housing and the city of Toronto leading to the taking over of the buildings at Malton by the city of Toronto. Representations have been made to the government about the need of additional shelter in that area. The emergency shelter administrator has approached Wartime Housing and expressed the desire to make use of the buildings at Malton for emergency shelter. The buildings have been placed at his disposal, and I think arrangements are now being concluded by which Wartime Housing Limited will operate the building under the direction of the emergency shelter administrator. That is the position today. Of course, it being two departments of government, no agreement will be required.
