Hon. J. L. ILSLEY (Minister of Finance):

I looked into (he matter to which the hon. member refers and I found that the city council of Winnipeg made an application some months^ ago for the extension of the housing conversion plan to that ctiy. The hon. gentleman perhaps realizes that many cities have applied for the extension of this plan to them, and every application has to be considered carefully. The machinery set up for the consideration of these questions is in the form of
tMr. Church.]
a committee called the housing coordinating committee, and I believe this matter has received some consideration by that committee. It has not yet been decided to extend the housing conversion plan to the city of Winnipeg, but the matter is under consideration by the committee, according to my understanding of the situation.
