June 3, 1904 (9th Parliament, 4th Session)

Sydney Arthur Fisher (Minister of Agriculture)

I am ready to say that I will secure a new vessel. It may be that the vessel will be purchased, one that is a year or two old, but I can assure my hon. friend that I will not purchase any old vessel for this work. If I cannot find a suitable vessel that is not more than a year or two old, and perfectly sound in every respect, I shall certainly give instructions for the building of a new vessel for this service, and I shall exhaust all efforts to get it constructed in Canada.
