Charles Murphy

Liberal

Mr. MURPHY:

The sum of $5,200 is
allocated to Banff national park, $17,400 to the Northwest Territories and $40,000 to the Yukon. The $40,000 allocated to the Yukon includes expenditures on certain roads. I would point out to the committee, as was pointed out formerly by the Minister of Public Works when, upon my unavoidable absence he was in charge of the item, that these amounts are tentative, and it is possible that the work may not be done in accordance with these exact figures. It may develop as the season goes on, that owing to climatic or other conditions, we may wish to make slight changes.

Public Works Program
I believe in the main however that these figures are as accurate as at present they can be given.
Mr. STEM7ART (Edmonton): I am not
concerned with whether or not this money may complete the work or only do a portion of it. Will this levelling work on the landing fields be done by day labour under the supervision of the department or by contract?
