ROUTINE PROCEEDINGS

CONGRATULATIONS TO MISS KREINER ON WINNING GOLD MEDAL AT WINTER OLYMPICS-MOTION UNDER S.O. 43

?

Mr. Jean-R. Roy@Timmins

Mr. Speaker, I wish to move a motion with the unanimous approval of the House pursuant to Standing Order 43 on a matter of urgent and pressing necessity. Following the tremendous achievement of Miss Kathy Kreiner of Timmins, at the Winter Olympics, and because her success for Canada seriously challenges our Canadian humility, I move, seconded by the hon. member for Vaudreuil (Mr. Herbert):

That through you, Mr. Speaker, this House express its great admiration for Kathy's ability, courage and dedication, and that this House honour Kathy for her remarkable success, by acknowledging her contribution to the glory of Canada and our athletes.

Gerald William Baldwin (Official Opposition House Leader; Progressive Conservative Party House Leader)

Progressive Conservative

Mr. G. W. Baldwin (Peace River):

Mr. Speaker, I have a motion under Standing Order 43 under circumstances of urgent and pressing necessity which do not require expansion on my part. I would therefore move, if unanimous consent is given, seconded by the hon. member for Gren-ville-Carleton (Mr. Baker) that:

This House requests the Governor-in-Council, acting under the provisions of Section 24 of the Anti-inflation Act, to vary his order pursuant

to Section 22 to include reasons for the decision to allow an intelligent consideration of the question of appeal procedure and to delay the operation of the order until appeal procedures have been published.
