Mr. B. S. Mackasey (Parliamentary Secretary to Minister of Labour):

1. Yes. The reasons for judgment of the Canada labour relations board with respect to the application for certification of le Syndicat General du Cinema et de la Television (CNTU), affecting certain employees of the CBC are available upon request, as well as the dissenting opinion of one member of the board.

2. Such action is unnecessary since the Industrial Relations and Disputes Investigation Act already provides that the Canada

Labour Relations Board shall, on any application for certification, determine whether the unit in respect of which the application is made is appropriate for collective bargaining. The appropriate unit may be an employer unit, craft unit, technical unit, plant unit or any other unit.
