Mr. Speaker, by the strangest of coincidences I happen to have sent certain telegrams this morning to the premier of Manitoba, the mayor of the city of Winnipeg and the chairman of his finance committee, and to Mr. Culver Riley,

Inquiries of the Ministry president of the Pan-American games 1967 society, as follows:

Federal government is prepared to raise its contribution for Pan-American games to $1J million if provincial contribution $1 million. If this proves insufficient for staging games federal government prepared to contribute SI 1 million if provincial contribution is set at $11 million. Letter follows with details.

I would like to ask him whether he would be willing to join with me in offering congratulations to the Alberni Athletics on having on the Canadian basketball championship over teams representing such little Canadian hamlets as Winnipeg, Hamilton and Montreal?
