REQUEST FOR TELEVISION COVERAGE OF ALLAN CUP GAMES

On the orders of the day:

LIB

Jean-Paul Deschatelets

Liberal

Mr. J. P. Deschatelets (Maisonneuve-Rose-monl):

Mr. Speaker, I wish to direct a question to the Minister of National Revenue. Since the Olympics of Montreal will represent eastern Canada against the western champions for the Allan cup, is the minister in a position to say whether these games, which are of national interest, will be televised in the east?

Hon. George C. Nowlan (Minister of National Revenue):

Mr. Speaker, there are so many games being played around this place at the moment that I have not had time to concentrate on deciding in my own mind which is the most important. However, I shall give the matter due consideration and will consult with the corporation. In due time, if the hon. member still has more than an academic interest in the matter, I shall bring forward the answer.

Mr. Speaker, I wish to address a question to the Minister of Transport.

Hon. Leon Balcer (Minister of Transport):

Mr. Speaker, my department is now making a full examination of the possibility of building a satellite airport for the airport at Dorval. Considering the proximity of the Joliette area and also the determination shown by its distinguished representative, I want to assure the hon. member that Joliette will be considered when this question is studied.

Mr. Maurice Allard (Sherbrooke):

Mr. Speaker, I should like to put a question to the Minister of Transport.

Inquiries of the Ministry

Could the minister tell the house whether it is his intention, following the desire recently expressed to him by his worship the mayor of Sherbrooke, to invite Trans-Canada Air Lines authorities to inaugurate an air service at the Sherbrooke municipal airport within the next few weeks, which would give several members opposite the opportunity to make a last and quick political trip in my area before June 18?

Hon. Leon Balcer (Minister of Transport):

Mr. Speaker, following the representations of my hon. friend from Sherbrooke and of the mayor of that city, I got in touch with Trans-Canada Air Lines authorities and asked them to conduct, as quickly as possible, a full inquiry as to the economic feasibility of an air service in Sherbrooke. I also asked officials of the air transport board to conduct a full economic inquiry into this project within the shortest possible time. I should receive the results of these two inquiries any day now.

PARTICIPATION IN FAIR

On the orders of the day:

LIB

Hubert Badanai

Liberal

Mr. Hubert Badanai (Fori William):

Mr. Speaker, I wish to direct a question to the Minister of Trade and Commerce. My question is based on a report in the Times of London of April 13 to the effect that 80 nations are taking part in the Milan trade fair, which is considered the largest Italian trade fair. Could the minister inform the house whether Canada is going to be represented and, if so, could he tell us what principal Canadian exhibits will be shown?
