Mr. Speaker:

The hon. member is quite out of order in making a flat statement of that kind which relates to the report the minister gave to the house. It may be a matter for question or debate at the appropriate time, but certainly not on orders of the day.

Mr. Herridge:

Mr. Speaker, I withdraw any implication that the minister gave me an untrue answer consciously. I should say, to correct my approach to this question, that I believe the minister's answer is based on false information. My question of two days ago was based on a letter from the chaplain, who is the Anglican vicar of the Kootenay lakes in Creston. Does the minister think he does not tell the truth

I think the hon. member is seeking to argue about the information rather than to get more information, which is not appropriate at this time.

Mr. Speaker, I think the hon. member has cast a serious implication on the officers of this unit and of western command in the statements he has made, and I think he should withdraw-

Order. The minister has put the proposition to the hon. member for Kootenay West that what he has said is unfair, and has asked the hon. member to withdraw the implication of his statement. I will give the hon. member the floor to indicate what he wishes to do.

Mr. Harkness:

Mr. Speaker, I think it was absolutely clear from what I said that I cast no aspersions on any member of the clergy. I gave a factual report of what was the exact situation, and it is the hon. member for Kootenay West who has been casting aspersions on the honesty of other people involved.
