Mr. Wilfrid LaCroix (Quebec-Monlmor-ency):

Mr. Speaker, I have only a few words to add to what I said yesterday. May I submit to you that, when speaking about the Tory party, in using the word "humbug" I am of course referring to their policy.

So may I say, humbugs, indeed

humbugs m their policy, indeed-when they introduce motions in this house protesting the rising cost of living, and yet object when an opportunity offers to have it brought down.

Mr. Fleming:

Would the hon. member permit a question? May I ask him if he believes that the government ought to introduce direct price controls?

Mr. LaCroix:

That will improve the situation, and maybe the present bill may well evade other necessary steps; because it is a right step in the direction of slowing down prices which are so much higher right now.

Mr. LaCroix:

The government is taking a good step, in the right direction; and I much prefer to evade price controls by the manufacturers themselves-who are defended by your party, right now.

Now, I was just saying: Humbugs in their attitude, indeed, when they introduce motions in this house protesting the rising cost of living and yet object when an opportunity offers to have it brought down.

Humbugs, in their policy, when they advocate price controls and yet object when an opportunity is given them to let people control prices themselves, by giving full scope to free enterprise and free competition.

Humbugs-
