The purpose of this amendment is to secure for every Canadian the equal right to work without being discriminated against because of his or her ethnic origin or religious creed. By defending this right, parliament will give legal sanction to certain sections of the universal declaration of human rights, for which the Canadian delegation voted at the general assembly of the United Nations.
