With the leave of the house I present to the honourable the House of Commons of Canada in parliament assembled the petition of a number of Canadian and British subjects residing in Yukon, petitioning parliament that the district of Mackenzie and Northwest Territories be not included in or added to the electoral district of Yukon, and stating their reasons for the petition.

1. Approximately 700.000 acres, of which approximately 600,000 acres were obtained from the province of Alberta, 2,000 from the Canadian Pacific Railway, and 98,000 from various private parties.

3. The value of (a) land and buildings or (b) the grazing and other leasehold interests as arrived at in 1941. In all cases releases were obtained indicating the willingness of the persons concerned to accept the compensation offered. In no case was it necessary to make a reference to the exchequer court.

5. The matter has been considered from time to time and it is the view of the government that the settlements made were fair and equitable, all relative factors having been fully considered by competent valuators and other local authorities familiar with the area.
