An hon. MEMBER:

We are taking a vote.

Mr. Speaker resumed the chair, and the Chairman of the committee made the following report:

Mr. Hanson (York-Sunbury) was addressing the committee when the Chairman called him to order on the ground that a motion that the committee rise had been made and was not debatable. Mr. Hanson claimed that the question had not been put and appealed from the Chairman's ruling.

Mr. HANSON (York-Sunbury):

On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, I expressly dissent from the statement read to Your Honour by the Deputy Speaker. The Deputy Speaker as Chairman of the committee of the whole had not put the motion. I was on my feet before he had put the motion. It should read: He claimed he had put the motion. The report is contrary to the facts, and that is why we are appealing from the ruling.

[The Chairman.]
