Mr. CARDIN:

Yes, and they have been

strongly recommended by the Post Office Department. Representations were made last year, and at this time they are pressing for the extensions.

Mr. CARDIN:

The plans are ready, but

a question has been raised as to the possibility of reducing to some extent the cost of construction by doing away with certain ornamentation on the building. However in discussing the matter with the architects I am convinced we can save very little by changing the plans already prepared. As the hon. member knows, we were asking for tenders, and the tenderers were informed that we would not proceed with the work at this time. But the attitude now is to ask for tenders and start work as soon as possible-certainly within a month or a month and a half.
