Am I correct in saying that this vote is divided between two provinces only?

Mr NEILL:

Is there no provision for extending the hospital building at Alert Bay? I think there was a building which was to ibe renovated for use as a hospital for tuberculosis cases I have a vague idea that some $10,000 wTas involved. It was in connection with the sanatorium operated in conjunction with the school at Alert Bay, which the minister mentioned a few moments ago.

Perhaps the minister could tell us how this $25,000 is to be spent in British Columbia.

Mr. CRERAR:

I gave that a moment ago. The $25,000 for British Columbia is to provide for hospital accommodation at Coqualeetza. Then for the Fisher River agency in Manitoba there is $15,000 for the construction of a sanitarium for the care of Indians suffering from tuberculosis in this locality. As I said a moment ago, that is really by way of experiment. Then there is $7,000 for the construction or purchase of an office and residence for the medical superintendent at The Pas agency.

Mr. CRERAR:

The details are as follows: for an Indian school at Cross Lake, Manitoba, to replace the school which burned down several years ago, $65,000; for the remodeling of and an addition to the Indian residential school at Sandy Bay, $40,000; for a new school at Alberni, British Columbia, to replace a school destroyed by fire on February 21, 1937, $150,000. That makes a total of $255,000 for residential schools. Then there are new day schools being built to the extent of $35,000, one in Ontario, two in Manitoba, two in Saskatchewan and one in British Columbia.
