I have just a word to say about it. It is, that if the chief justice of Canada were the governor general, and if the chief justice of each province were lieutenant governor of that province, this item would disappear and we would save a great deal of money. I make that suggestion because the chief justice of Canada is competent and duly qualified to represent His Majesty, and so are the chief justices of the provinces. The suggestion was made in the house some years ago. I renew it in order to give every member an opportunity to think it over. In these times of stress-
