LIB

Mr. CRERAR: (Minister of Railways and Canals)

Liberal

1. $4,748,420.

2. This amount represents Quebec's share of the $20,000,000 appropriated by the government under the Canada Highways Act, 1919. That province had completely earned its allocation by March 31, 1926. The sum represents 40 per cent of the estimated subsidizable cost of constructing or improving 1,004. 77 miles of roadway comprised in 166 different project agreements. It is not possible to state the amount allowed for each county of the province of Quebec, but the final annual report of the commissioner of highways for the fiscal year ended March 31, 1928, contains a statement of the roads that received benefit of the federal subsidy, giving the mileage, the amount paid on account of each road and the type of construction.
