Mr. Speaker, by leave of the House, I wish to present the following motion from the select standing committee on agriculture and colonization:

That the select standing committee on agriculture and colonization shall have leave to sit while the House is in session.

Three bills were referred to this committee last Friday, and I have not had an opportunity of calling the committee together tc make this recommendation, but perhaps the House will consent to my moving it to-day as the House decided yesterday to sit at eleven o'clock in the morning.

NATURAL RESOURCES-WESTERN PROVINCES


Hon. J. W. EDWARD'S (Frontenac-Adding-ton): Mr. Speaker, I desire to present petitions from Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and Ontario asking that the natural resources of the western provinces be restored to them without restrictions. These petitions are signed by 6,709 names.

FEDERAL DISTRICT COMMISSION

OTTAWA IMPROVEMENT COMMISSION ACTS TO BE REPEALED


' Right Hon. W. L. MACKENZIE KING (Prime Minister) moved that the House go into committee at the next sitting to consider the following proposed resolution: Resolved that it is expedient to bring in a measure,- 1. To provide for a Federal District Commission and to repeal the acts respecting the Ottawa Improvement Commission; 2. To authorize the payment to the commission of the sum of $250,000 a year for a period not exceeding sixteen years from the first day of April, 1927, and to make provision for borrowing powers, the issue of debentures and the repayment thereof. He said: His Excellency the Governor General, having been made acquainted with the subject matter of this resolution, recommends it to the favourable consideration of the House. Motion agreed to.
