Mr. TAYLOR (New Westminster).
Before the orders of the day are called I wish to put a question to the Solicitor General (Mr. Bureau) based upon the following despatch in to-day's Montreal 'Gazette':
BILL MINER ARRESTED. Canadian Government may have him, if they want him.
Chicago, February 27.-That ' Old Bill ' Miner, second only to Jesse James in notoriety as a train robber, was one of the White Sulphur, Ga., bandits arrested at Gainesville, Ga., last Thursday, was asserted at the bureau of identification of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency to-day.
The train robbery at White Sulphur occurred February 18 and several thousand dollars were secured by the bandits. Five days later three alleged robbers were arrested, among them, it is stated ' Old Bill.'
Unless the Dominion authorities seek Miner's return he will be tried on the White Sulphur charge.
I wish to ask whether it is the intention of the Solicitor General to take steps to have this gentleman returned to Canada.
