ADJOURNMENT-BUSINESS OF

THE HOUSE. * The MINISTER OF FINANCE moved the adjournment of the House.

CON

Thomas Simpson Sproule

Conservative (1867-1942)

Mr. SPROULE.

Before the House adjourns, I would ask the hon. minister who is leading the House at present if he would be good enough to tell us when the government hope to make its statement to the House regarding its railway policy. We see a good deal about it in the press. It seems to me it is baldly dealing fairly with the House if the government is not prepared to lay its policy before the House, that it should give it to the country through its own press. I think the hon. gentleman should be able to tell us that now. There must be some conclusion reached.

The MINISTER OF FINANCE.

As an old journalist, I would advise my hon. friend (Mr. Sproule) not to place too much reliance upon statements in the press as regards matters of this kind. At present we are not in a position to say anything to the House, but if there was anything to say, I would anticipate that the Prime Minister would make a statement next week.

The MINISTER OF FINANCE.

There are several Bills and resolutions on the Order Paper to be dealt with, and, if we reach supply, we will go on with the estimates of the Minister of the Interior.
