The MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE.

I suppose one for East and one for West Elgin.

Mr. CLANCY.

No, for West Elgin. The hon. gentleman has no escape of that kind. Then, what about the county of Wellington, what about the county of Wentworth ?

The MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE.

In the case of West Elgin part of the riding is in the county of Elgin and part of it is in the county of Kent, and a commissioner was appointed for each of these.

Mr. CLANCY.

The hon. minister surely is beside himself. Does he not know that no notice was taken of municipal counties ? Does not he know that the census was taken by. electoral districts ? Surely his commissioner did not make the suggestion he has just communicated to us.

The MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE.

The reason is correct. In some cases where the electoral division was made up of two or three counties, two commissioners were appointed.

Then, take the county of Botliwell, which is made up of part of the county of Kent and part of the county of Lambton. Yet there was only one commissioner. _

North Victoria is made up of parts of three counties, yet the hon. minister appointed only one commissioner. He left out two heelers there. The hon. minister stated to the hon. member for King's, New Brunswick (Mr. Fowler) that he took the census for the lumber camps.

If, at a given house the enumerator were told that the husband and sons were working at a lumber camp, they would be enumerated there, and again in the lumber camp ?

If they were enumerated at the lumber

camp, the schedule of the lumber camp would be watched and, if the entries were duplicated they would be struck out in one.

I agree with my hon. friend (Mr. Taylor) but some hon. gentlemen wish to get information, and I would ask them now to state what they want so that I may try to get it.
