George Taylor (Chief Opposition Whip; Whip of the Conservative Party (1867-1942))

Conservative (1867-1942)

Mr. TAYLOR.

I see, at page D-65 of the Auditor General's report, that there were 0 in Prince Edward Island, 5 in Nova Scotia, 6 in New Brunswick, 170 in Quebec, 15 in Ontario and 3 in Manitoba and the Northwest Territories. The hon. minister informed the committee a moment ago that in order to get this bonus, a room had to be built according to the plans and specifications supplied by the department, aud that in every case these compartments were inspected by an officer of the department. I would ask him to account for $485.ii>

paid out to different parties in the province of Quebec and for $22 paid out to parties in Ontario for inspecting cold storage rooms. I see here T. Corbeil Laurentides, 21 days at $2 a day, inspections for bonuses, and so it runs on.

The hon. gentleman did not ask if he was from here. He is an officer of the department. He is one of the syndicate inspectors for Quebec, and we asked him to do that work.
